Larkin's Hill Farm

Larkin's Hill Farm is a historic house located in Harwood, Maryland, notable for its 1+1⁄2-story gambrel-roofed brick structure and a 20th-century wing. Established in 1683, it briefly served as the temporary capital of Maryland. The site was operated as an inn by John Larkin, an early Quaker settler, and was a key stop on Maryland's first postal route. The current brick house was constructed in the mid-18th century under Captain John Gassaway, a prominent figure in Annapolis. Recognized for its historical significance, Larkin's Hill Farm was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1969, making it a point of interest for both tourists and researchers.
