Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge (large municipal nature preserve)

The Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge encompasses more than 3,600 acres of forests, prairies, and wetlands along the West Fork of the Trinity River, making it one of the largest municipally owned nature centers in the United States. The refuge maintains a small herd of bison, extensive hiking trails, canoe launches, and an interpretive center with natural-history programming. The site is managed for wildlife conservation, environmental education, and passive recreation.
