African American Civil War Memorial and Museum

The African American Civil War Memorial and Museum commemorates the U.S. Colored Troops and African American contributions during the Civil War and includes a bronze memorial sculpture and a museum with exhibits and archival materials. Dedicated in 1998, the memorial site documents enlistment records and personal histories of African American soldiers and sailors who fought for the Union. The museum conducts research, educational programming, and preserves artifacts related to those service members.
