Raine's House

Raine's House, a Grade II* listed building in Wapping, London, was established in 1719 as a charity school by philanthropist Henry Raine. Originally accommodating 100 children, the school aimed to provide free education to the poor. The building features a striking baroque facade with giant pilasters and a notable stone plaque that reads, 'Come in & learn your duty to God & man. 1719'. Today, it serves as a community centre and houses the offices of the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, while the original school has relocated to Bethnal Green.
