U.S. Capitol Visitor Center and January 6 coverage

The U.S. Capitol Visitor Center at 100 First Street SE is the public entrance complex to the Capitol and was a focal point of reporting on the January 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol. Photographs and video shot on the Capitol grounds, exterior terraces, and visitor center areas that day were widely circulated by national and international media and on social platforms. The images from that date remain frequently referenced in coverage of the event and its aftermath.
