Alice in Wonderland Sculpture (Central Park)

The Alice in Wonderland sculpture by José de Creeft was installed in Central Park in 1959 and was commissioned by philanthropist George T. Delacorte Jr. The bronze group depicts Lewis Carroll’s characters including Alice, the Mad Hatter, the White Rabbit and others, and was intentionally designed as a climbable sculpture for children. It is located adjacent to Conservatory Water near East 74th Street and remains a popular, site-specific landmark within the park.
