The Mirage - erupting volcano and Secret Garden

The Mirage, which opened in 1989, features an artificial erupting volcano on its Strip frontage that performs choreographed fire-and-water shows for pedestrians. The resort was the longtime home of Siegfried & Roy's performances and houses the Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat, a public exhibit displaying big cats and dolphins. The Mirage's Polynesian-themed architecture and volcano became an influential prototype for later mega-resorts on the Las Vegas Strip.
