Muliaage

Muliaage is the official residence of the president of the Maldives, located in the historic center of Malé. Built between 1914 and 1919 at the request of Sultan Muhammad Shamsuddeen III for his son, Prince Hassan Izzuddin, the palace reflects colonial bungalow architecture. It has served various roles throughout its history, including as a presidential palace and a government office. Notable guests have included Queen Elizabeth II and Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. The site also features the Medhu Ziyaaraiy, housing the tomb of the Islamic figure believed to have introduced Islam to the Maldives in 1153, making it a significant cultural landmark for visitors and researchers alike.
