Crocheron–McDowall House

The Crocheron–McDowall House, built in 1857 in Bastrop, Texas, is a stunning example of Greek Revival architecture. Originally constructed for wealthy merchant Henry Crocheron, the house became a cultural hub under his niece, Mary Ann McDowall, who hosted music classes and social events for notable guests. The property has a rich history, including its role during the Civil War and its transformation into a center for intellectual life in the late 1800s. Although it is currently a private residence, the house is recognized as a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, celebrated for its architectural significance and historical importance.
