City Hall Station (abandoned IRT station)

The original City Hall subway station on the IRT opened in 1904 and was closed to passenger service in 1945 when it could no longer accommodate longer trains. The station retains Guastavino-tiled arches, skylights, and original chandeliers and is often cited as one of New York City's best-preserved abandoned transit spaces. It is not open for regular service and can only be seen via special tours or through the 6 train when it loops.
