Matchstick Palace

The Matchstick Palace, or Tändstickspalatset, is a historic office building located in Stockholm, Sweden. Commissioned by the 'Match King' Ivar Kreuger in the late 1920s, it served as the headquarters for the Swedish match company Svenska Tändsticks AB. Designed by architect Ivar Tengbom, the building features a striking horseshoe-shaped inner courtyard adorned with a sculpture by Carl Milles and elegant marble façades. The interior boasts a board meeting room decorated with works by expressionist painter Isaac Grünewald. After several ownership changes, Swedish Match returned to the palace in 2010, making it a notable landmark for both tourists and researchers interested in Swedish industrial history and architecture.
