Trinity Court Building (1879–1926)

The Trinity Court Building, constructed in 1879 in Lower Manhattan, was originally built for the Western Union Telegraph Company. This unique six-story structure featured an irregular facade and served as a commercial hub with stores on the ground floor and lofts above. The building became embroiled in legal disputes in the 1890s over property value losses linked to the nearby Manhattan Elevated Railroad. After changing ownership several times, it was ultimately demolished in 1926 to make way for a new skyscraper. Its history reflects the dynamic development of Manhattan and the evolving landscape of urban architecture.
