Austin Daily Tribune Building

The Austin Daily Tribune Building, located at 920 Colorado in Austin, Texas, is a notable example of Moderne architecture. Constructed in 1941, it originally served as the headquarters for the Austin Daily Tribune newspaper, which operated for just a year before closing. In 1945, the State of Texas acquired the building, and it was later renamed in honor of Texas Railroad Commissioner Ernest O. Thompson in 1965. The building, designed by architect Shirley Simons and the firm of Page, was recognized for its historical significance and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2000, making it an interesting site for tourists and researchers alike.
