Old Schoolhouse Bridge

The Old Schoolhouse Bridge is a historic covered bridge located in Lyndon, Vermont, spanning the South Wheelock Branch of the Passumpsic River. Built in 1871, it is notable for being one of the few surviving 19th-century covered bridges with walkways on both sides, although one has since been removed. This single-span king post truss bridge, measuring 42 feet in length, features a distinctive gabled metal roof and is clad in vertical board siding. It was in active service until 1973 and is now accessible only to pedestrians. The bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in American engineering and history.
