The Woodlands - estate and burial site of William Hamilton

The Woodlands estate was the country seat of William Hamilton (1745–1813), a Philadelphia planter and patron of horticulture, and the Georgian mansion on the property was built in the late 18th century. The grounds later became The Woodlands Cemetery, and William Hamilton is buried on the site. The property is a National Historic Landmark that preserves Hamilton's house, landscape, and records of early American horticulture.
