PSFS Building - early International Style skyscraper

The PSFS Building, completed in 1932 for the Philadelphia Savings Fund Society and designed by George Howe and William Lescaze, is widely regarded as the first International Style skyscraper in the United States. Its modernist façade and functionalist design marked a departure from historical revival styles common in American high‑rise architecture. The building’s illuminated 'PSFS' rooftop sign became a city landmark; the structure was later adapted as the Loews Philadelphia Hotel while retaining its architectural significance.
