Ryman Auditorium (originally Union Gospel Tabernacle)

Built in 1892 as the Union Gospel Tabernacle by Captain Thomas G. Ryman, the building was originally intended for religious revivals and evangelical services. It was later renamed Ryman Auditorium and continued to host both religious and secular events. The venue served as the home of the Grand Ole Opry from 1943 to 1974. Its origin as a revival tabernacle documents its role as a ritual site in Nashville's religious history.
