Rosedale (Lynchburg, Virginia)

Rosedale is a historic property in Lynchburg, Virginia, featuring the ruins of an 18th-century grist mill, the Christopher Johnson Cottage from the 1760s, and the Rosedale mansion built in 1836 by Odin Clay, the first president of the Virginia and Tennessee Railroad. The mansion, notable for its Flemish bond brickwork, was expanded in 1929 and designed by architect Stanhope S. Johnson. Rosedale was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983, making it a significant site for tourists and researchers interested in Virginia's architectural and industrial history.
