College of Technology and Museum Extension

The College of Technology and Museum Extension, located on Byrom Street in Liverpool, is a historic building constructed between 1896 and 1909, designed by architect Edward William Mountford. Originally serving as a college and museum, it features a unique layout with the college on the lower levels and the museum above. After sustaining bomb damage in the 1960s, it underwent reconstruction and was designated as a Grade II* listed building in 1966. The lower levels have been home to various educational institutions, including Liverpool John Moores University, while the upper levels now house the research department of the World Museum Liverpool, making it a significant site for both education and cultural heritage in the city.
