Boston Common

Boston Common, established in 1634, is the oldest city park in the United States and covers about fifty acres in downtown Boston. Historically it served as a public grazing area and militia drilling ground and today marks the southern terminus of the Freedom Trail. The Massachusetts State House overlooks the park and the Common hosts public events, protests, and daily recreational use year-round.
