Polytechnic Stadium (London)

The Polytechnic Stadium, located in Chiswick, London, is a historic sports venue that serves as the centerpiece of the Quintin Hogg Memorial Grounds. Established in 1936, it was designed by Joseph Addison and has a rich history, including hosting the Women's Amateur Athletic Association Championships and serving as the finish line for the Polytechnic Marathon, where a world record was set in 1963. The stadium also played a role in the 1948 Summer Olympics by hosting field hockey preliminaries. Although the grandstand is now a Grade II listed structure, it is currently unused due to modern safety regulations. The venue remains significant for its contributions to athletics and local sports culture.
