Kubota Garden - Japanese-American private-to-public landscape

Kubota Garden was created beginning in 1927 by Japanese immigrant Fujitaro Kubota and blends traditional Japanese garden design with Pacific Northwest plants. Donated to the city in the 1980s, the 20-acre garden is now a public, city-managed park recognized for its unique cultural and horticultural synthesis. The site retains original features such as stone lanterns, ponds, and winding paths that reflect Kubota's design principles and immigrant craftsmanship.
