Perry Farm

Perry Farm is a historic African-American farm complex located in Riley Hill, North Carolina, near Raleigh. Established in 1820 by John and Nancy Perry, the farm reflects the complex history of slavery and freedom in the South. After the Civil War, Feggins Perry, a freedman, worked the land as a tenant farmer and contributed to the local community by helping to establish the Riley Hill Baptist Church. The farm has remained in the Perry family since 1914 and was recognized for its significance in African-American social history by being listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994. This site offers a unique glimpse into the resilience and heritage of African-American farming families.
