Albert Einstein Memorial (seated bronze with equations)

The Albert Einstein Memorial is a large bronze seated statue by sculptor Robert Berks on the grounds of the National Academy of Sciences, unveiled in 1979. The roughly 12-foot bronze figure sits beside a circular bench engraved with scientific inscriptions and equations. A popular visitor tradition is touching or rubbing parts of the statue, particularly the left shoe or foot, for photographs and luck.
