Buckelew Mansion

Buckelew Mansion, also known as Lakeview, is a historic house located in Jamesburg, New Jersey, that now functions as a museum dedicated to local history and serves as the headquarters for the Jamesburg Historical Association. Originally built in 1685 as a single room, the mansion underwent significant expansions over the centuries, particularly during the ownership of James Buckelow in 1829, who added more rooms to accommodate his family and enhance the home's status. By the 1870s, a third story was added, resulting in the impressive 23-room mansion seen today. It was recognized for its historical significance by being listed on both the New Jersey Register of Historic Places and the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.
