Stow Lodge

Stow Lodge, located in Stowmarket, Suffolk, is a historic building originally constructed in 1781 as a Union Workhouse to provide relief for the poor from 14 surrounding parishes. Notably described in the 1844 White's Directory as resembling a gentleman's residence, it later served as a hospital until its closure in 1991. The building is recognized for its architectural significance, having been listed as Grade II in 1988. Today, it has been converted into residential flats, while the nearby paupers graveyard, maintained by volunteers, serves as a reminder of its historical past.
