DAR Constitution Hall

DAR Constitution Hall was completed in 1929 and is owned by the Daughters of the American Revolution as a major concert and event venue in Washington, D.C. In 1939 the DAR denied contralto Marian Anderson permission to perform in the hall because of segregationist policies; Anderson subsequently gave an open-air concert at the Lincoln Memorial. The hall has hosted political, cultural, and civic events throughout the 20th and 21st centuries.
