United States Custom House and Post Office (Cincinnati)

The United States Custom House and Post Office in Cincinnati, Ohio, was a significant federal building from its completion in 1885 until its demolition in 1936. It housed the United States Custom House and the District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, and was notable for hosting the Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. The site, rich in history, was visited by three U.S. Presidents and was a focal point for civic events, including speeches by Abraham Lincoln. After nearly half a century of service, the building was deemed too small for the growing federal presence, leading to the construction of a new courthouse, which, despite being smaller in volume, provided more efficient working space.
