VR warehouses

The VR warehouses, located in central Helsinki, were a historic group of redbrick railway warehouses designed by architect Bruno Granholm, serving the Finnish State Railways from 1899 until the 1980s. These warehouses were integral to the city's logistics and cultural events, hosting everything from flea markets to music festivals. Despite their historical significance, they fell into disrepair and were ultimately demolished following a devastating fire in 2006. The site is now home to the Helsinki Music Centre, with a small section of the warehouses preserved as a café. The area reflects Helsinki's evolving urban landscape and offers insights into the city's architectural history.
