The Khyber (historic Old City basement club)

The Khyber was a basement nightclub and music venue at 56 S 2nd St in Old City that played a central role in Philadelphia's punk, hardcore, and indie underground scenes in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. The venue hosted many local bands and touring acts before closing as a music venue in 2004. The Khyber's period as a music space is documented in local music histories and oral accounts of the city's underground scene.
