Westminster Castle

Westminster Castle, also known as 'The Pillar of Fire', is a historic landmark in Westminster, Colorado, recognized for its striking Richardsonian Romanesque architecture. Built in 1893 and opened in 1908, it originally served as Westminster University, which was founded by Henry T. Mayham. The university faced challenges due to financial difficulties and competition, leading to its closure in 1917. The property was later purchased by the Pillar of Fire Church and transformed into Belleview Schools, which continues to operate today. The castle is notable for its 175 ft tower and has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1979, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in Colorado's educational and architectural history.
