85–89 Micklegate

85–89 Micklegate is a Grade II* listed medieval building located in the heart of York, England, constructed around 1500. Originally part of the grounds of Micklegate Priory, this historic structure features distinctive architectural elements such as double-jettying and a crown post roof. Although it does not appear on a 1610 map, its design suggests an earlier construction date. The building was likely intended for rental income for the priory and has been divided into three properties since its inception. Over the centuries, it has housed butchers and undergone various renovations, including restoration in the 1960s. Today, the ground floor hosts shops while apartments occupy the upper levels, making it a vibrant part of York's architectural heritage.
