St. John's Episcopal Church (Church of the Presidents)

St. John's Episcopal Church, Lafayette Square, is commonly called the 'Church of the Presidents' because every sitting U.S. president since James Madison has attended services there at least once. The church, originally built in 1816 and rebuilt after the War of 1812, remains an active parish and a frequent stop for visitors touring the White House area. It offers regular worship services and guided tours that are included by many civic and religious pilgrimage groups.
