Celtic Castle on Jakob's Hill

The Jakab Hill castle, an early Iron Age fortification in Hungary, features a circular rampart of earth and stone and is situated on a plateau overlooking the Drave flood plain. Once a significant center of power in Southern Pannonia, it may have served as the capital of an Iron Age kingdom. The castle's impressive walls, reaching heights of 6–10 meters, enclose a complex that includes the ruins of a Pauline Monastery established in 1225.
