Rising Sun Tavern (Fredericksburg, Virginia)

The Rising Sun Tavern, a historic building in Fredericksburg, Virginia, was constructed around 1760 by Charles Washington, the youngest brother of George Washington. Originally a family home, it transitioned into a tavern in 1792, serving travelers until the 1820s. Known as the 'Golden Eagle' in its early years, it was later renamed the 'Rising Sun Tavern.' The building is now a museum operated by the Washington Heritage Museums, showcasing period furnishings and offering insights into 18th-century tavern life. Designated a National Historic Landmark in 1964, the site is open daily for visitors to explore its rich history.
