Mission Espada cemetery and burials

Mission San Francisco de la Espada (Mission Espada) is one of the San Antonio Missions and has an associated historic cemetery used during the Spanish colonial and Mexican periods. Archaeological investigations at the mission have documented human burials and burial features dating to the 18th and 19th centuries. Findings from fieldwork at Mission Espada have been recorded and curated by the National Park Service as part of research and preservation efforts.
