1997 Phoenix Lights - Sky Harbor observations

On March 13, 1997, thousands of people across Phoenix reported seeing a series of unexplained lights and a V-shaped formation in the sky; observers included people near Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. The event became a major local and national UFO story and remains a prominent piece of Phoenix folklore. The Arizona Air National Guard later stated some of the lights were flares dropped during training exercises, an explanation many witnesses and researchers dispute.
