Pavilhão de Portugal

The Pavilhão de Portugal, located in Parque das Nações, Lisbon, is a striking architectural landmark originally built for the 1998 World's Fair (Expo'98) to showcase Portugal's national representation. Its entrance features a large square with a distinctive pre-stressed concrete canopy, symbolizing a sheet of paper resting on two bricks. After Expo'98, the pavilion faced uncertainty regarding its future use, with various proposals considered. In 2015, it was transferred to the University of Lisbon, which plans to transform it into a hub for education and research, featuring an auditorium, exhibition spaces, and a restaurant. The renovation is set to enhance its role in promoting knowledge and community engagement.
