Laurel Hill Cemetery

Founded in 1836, Laurel Hill Cemetery is an early example of the rural cemetery movement and contains extensive 19th-century funerary architecture, mausoleums, and terraced stonework overlooking the Schuylkill River. The site's monuments, obelisks, and winding roads document Victorian-era burial infrastructure and landscape design. Laurel Hill is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and continues to preserve original stone masonry and monumental infrastructure.
