Ghirardelli Square and Chocolate Company

The Ghirardelli Chocolate Company, founded in San Francisco in 1852, established production at the site now known as Ghirardelli Square. The industrial complex at 900 North Point Street was redeveloped in the 1960s into a public square and retail/restaurant complex, one of the early large-scale adaptive reuse projects in the United States. The site remains a focal point for the city's culinary tourism and local chocolate-making heritage.
