Norcross Building

The Norcross Building, located at the bustling intersection of Peachtree Street and Marietta Street in downtown Atlanta, was a significant landmark in the city's history. Established in 1859 and owned by Jonathan Norcross, known as the 'father of Atlanta,' the original structure was replaced in 1894 by a stunning five-story office building praised for its architectural beauty. Featuring pressed brick, ornamental bay windows, and lavish interiors, it was considered one of the finest buildings in the city. The building housed various tenants, including Alonzo Herndon's barbershop and Jacobs' Pharmacy. Although the original structure was destroyed by fire in 1902, it was succeeded by a fourteen-story steel building, marking the evolution of Atlanta's skyline. Today, the site is home to the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies, making it a point of interest for both tourists and researchers exploring Atlanta's rich history.
