Buffalo Bayou Park Cistern

The Buffalo Bayou Park Cistern is a decommissioned underground municipal drinking water reservoir built in 1926 and later repurposed as a public art and event space that opened to visitors in 2016. The subterranean space features rows of slender concrete columns and hosts site-specific art installations and guided tours. It is a distinctive example of adaptive reuse of historic municipal infrastructure in Houston.
