Coffin Point Plantation

Coffin Point Plantation is a historic plantation house located in the Frogmore area of Beaufort County, South Carolina. Established around 1801 by Ebenezer Coffin, the plantation features a striking tabby foundation and a picturesque half-mile avenue of oaks leading to the home. During the Civil War, it was noted that 260 enslaved individuals lived and worked on the plantation. In the early 1890s, the property was purchased by James Donald Cameron, a notable Republican U.S. Senator, who hosted prominent visitors, including Henry Adams. The plantation was added to the National Historic Register in 1975, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in American history and architecture.
