Karamata Family House

The Karamata Family House, located at 17 Karamatina Street in Zemun, Belgrade, is a significant cultural monument with a rich history dating back to 1764. Originally built by merchant Kuzman Jovanović, it was later purchased by Dimitrije Karamata, an immigrant from Macedonia. The house features a classicist facade and baroque architectural elements, reflecting its historical significance. Notably, it served as a residence for Emperor Joseph II during the Austro-Ottoman war and hosted important meetings during the 1848 revolutions. The house remains a key landmark in Zemun, showcasing the area's cultural heritage and architectural evolution.
