Blue Ridge Farm (Upperville, Virginia)

Blue Ridge Farm is a historic site near Upperville, Virginia, known for its rich equestrian heritage. Established in 1903 by Henry T. Oxnard, the farm features a Federal era farmhouse, several outbuildings, and specialized facilities for horse breeding. Notable structures include the Fountain Hill House, built in 1791, and the Colonial Revival-style Blue Ridge Farmhouse from 1935, designed by architect Waddy B. Wood. The farm gained prominence under Rear Admiral Cary Travers Grayson, who bred champion racehorses, including the notable colt Market Wise. The property, still in the Grayson family as of 2006, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, making it a significant destination for tourists and researchers interested in American agricultural and equestrian history.
