Linear chain of Spanish missions along the San Antonio River (Mission San José)

Mission San José y San Miguel de Aguayo is one of four Spanish colonial missions that form a deliberately linear cultural landscape along the San Antonio River, extending over a roughly 10–15 mile corridor. The alignment of Mission Concepción, Mission San José, Mission San Juan, and Mission Espada along the river is a notable geographic arrangement tied to 18th-century colonial settlement and irrigation patterns. The cluster is recognized as the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park and was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for this integrated riverine mission system.
