Temple of Dendur at The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Temple of Dendur is an ancient Egyptian temple dating to around 15 BCE that was gifted to the United States by Egypt in 1965 and installed in the Sackler Wing of The Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1978. The sandstone structure, set in a reflecting pool within a purpose-built gallery, is displayed with its original reliefs and inscriptions and is one of the Met's most visited antiquities. The installation preserves both the architectural form and sculptural reliefs of the original monument.
