Powell's City of Books occupying a full city block

Powell's City of Books is the largest independent new and used bookstore in the world by shelf space and number of titles. The flagship store occupies an entire city block in Portland's Old Town/ Pearl District and contains approximately one million books across many color-coded rooms. It has been a continuous retail landmark and cultural destination since its establishment in the 1970s.
