Perry and Brainard Block

The Perry and Brainard Block, also known as the North Des Moines Town Hall, is a historic building in Des Moines, Iowa, built between 1888 and 1889. It served as the city hall for North Des Moines and is the only surviving public building from the Annexation Movement era, reflecting the community's significant role in the late 19th century. The building was a polling place during the annexation debates and hosted celebrations after the successful referendums in 1890. It also housed the Ancient Order of United Workmen after its city hall days. Recognized for its historical importance, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996 and identified as one of Iowa's Most Endangered Properties in 2011.
