Casino de la Selva

The Casino de la Selva, also known as the Jungle Casino Hotel, was a historic resort hotel in Cuernavaca, Mexico, inaugurated in 1931. Initially a luxurious hotel and casino, it transitioned to a hotel-only operation in 1934 after gambling was banned in Mexico. The hotel featured stunning architecture, including reinforced concrete paraboloid shells designed by architect Félix Candela, and was adorned with murals by renowned artists. The grounds were rich in natural beauty, housing ancient trees and remnants of pre-Hispanic culture. Despite its decline in the 1970s and subsequent auctioning in 2001, public outcry led to the preservation of some murals, making it a site of historical and cultural significance for visitors and researchers alike.
